Thecus N5500 Quick RAID
 Following up from my previous snippet for the Thecus N5500, I feel compelled to share with all of you one feature that is particularly noteworthy, that Thecus has deployed in their new firmware release 3.03.00.4, the option for creating RAID using the "Quick RAID" feature. This means Thecus has managed to lessen the time taken for creating a complete RAID array, we have found the required time is cut by approximately 70%. There is one caveat though, all the drives utilized in the array must previously have no partitions or previously formatted. Nonetheless, this is a great step in the right direction and improves the wait time before your NAS unit can become operational.
NOTE: The "QUICK RAID" feature according to us seems not to perform a low level surface scan during its RAID building. If that is indeed so, we would recommend the 'longer route' in instances where a scan is required.
